User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:82.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/82.0

Steps to reproduce:

Visited this page as I often do:
http://satview.bom.gov.au/

Actual results:

The top and bottom bars on this page no longer display correctly:
http://satview.bom.gov.au/

Expected results:

It was working fine a few days ago.
They display correctly using Internet Explorer on the same PC, but not in Firefox V82.0.2 (64 bit).

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your report.

I opened the page using Windows 10, changed screen size and clicked some of the options but I was unable to reproduce the issue reported.

I tested it on the following versions:

  • Firefox Release 80.0.1 (64-bit), 82.0.3 (64-bit)
  • Firefox Beta 83.0b10 (64-bit)
  • Firefox Nightly 84.0a1 (2020-11-09) (64-bit)

Could you please download the latest Nightly version and check if issue is reproducible there as well? You can download it from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/

Thanks in advance,
Virginia

Hi Virginia,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Please see above attachments showing how the page looks in IE and Firefox on the same laptop this afternoon. This shows that Firefox cannot display the page correctly on this laptop.

I did as you suggested and installed the latest Nightly version - 84.0a1 (2020-11-14) (64-bit). The page displays perfectly well in that version - just like in IE as seen above.

I hope the screenshots and this reply help you find the problem.

Can I download and try Firefox Release 80.0.1 (64-bit), and 82.0.3 (64-bit) from somewhere please?

With best regards,
Peter

Oh - I have just discovered that Firefox has automatically updated to V82.0.3 (64-bit), so that means that version also has the problem on this laptop.

Hi Virginia,

Problem solved!

I found the list of previous versions and accidentally installed an ESR version 78.??? After realizing my mistake, I uninstalled that ESR version, then installed version 80.0.1 (64-bit). I checked the page that wouldn't display properly before - it was fine.

When I checked the version, Firefox automatically installed the latest update V82.0.3 (64-bit) (as it does). After restarting Firefox, another check of the page revealed that everything is working just fine!

So I guess it all boils down to what I should have done as soon as the problem appeared - simply uninstall Firefox and re-install it!

Thanks for your help. I guess the cause of the problem will remain a mystery, and that probably doesn't matter.

Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Thank you for confirming that you are no longer seeing the problem.

I'll mark this ticket as Solved - Works for me. If you experience this issue again (let's hope not!) feel free to reopen it.

Virginia
