Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:82.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/82.0

Steps to reproduce:

On a Windows Server 2012 Terminalserver the Printer is configured for Printing in B&W. Firefox ignores the b&w configuration and it's printing with color. In Chrome i can configure with a GPO that it opens only the Windows printing page (and not the Chrome printing page) and then it prints in b&w. For Firefox i didn't find a GPO or a registry key for this.
Sorry for my bad English.

Actual results:

It prints only with color.

Expected results:

It should print only in b&w.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Printing: Setup
Product: Firefox → Core

Should i run the steps under Setup and Prerequisites and Usage? There are only Linux commands, is this running with Windows?

The severity field is not set for this bug.
:mats, could you have a look please?

Seems like this is a request for some sort of enterprise policy?

You can change the default for print.print_in_color, would that be enough for your usecase?

We support changing all the print preferences via our preference policy:

https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/blob/master/README.md#preferences

I believe the policy you're referring to is:

https://cloud.google.com/docs/chrome-enterprise/policies/?policy=DisablePrintPreview

Are you saying this changes the behavior on Chrome as well? It's just supposed to bypass print preview.

Summary: Firefox ignores Windows printig settings → Firefox ignores Windows printing settings

It seems you can change the print_in_color pref to do what you want, is that enough, do you need something else?

cc'ing some folks that hopefully are more familiar with windows printing than me.
