Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826 I've installed Mozilla 1.0 on NT4 SP6 with profiles on a Samba 2.2.2 share. Everything works OK, but if you create an additional folder, enter in this folder and then go back into "Inbox", the mouse pointer is replaced by a sandglass, even if it is still useable as a normal pointer. This is very annoying for unexperimented users (and even worse for ex-OE users), even if it's a non-blocking bug, because they can think they have to wait for the computer to finish, but they can wait for a very long time... But sometimes, at the same time, the mail reception never stops, and we have to quit Mozilla (including Fast Loading) to receive mails (using a local POP3 Postfix server, running very well with OE or Kmail). I'm not sure if this last bug is linked to the first one. With a local profile on a NTFS partition, no problem is encountered. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a remote profile on a samba share (config : homes, writeable and browsable) 2. Download some messages from a POP3 server 3. Create a folder in your server folder (not in "Local folders") 4. Go from Inbox to your folder, and go back to Inbox 5. If this doesn't happen, go from one folder to another a few times, the problem should appear. Actual Results: The mouse pointer is replaced by a sandglass, without reason since there is no mail to download, and no requested action. Expected Results: Nothing. Samba 2.2.2 NT4 SP6 Mozilla 1.0 (network install with profile on a SMB share) Same problem with Mozilla 1.1 (local install with profile on a SMB share) No problem on both with local profile on a NTFS partition.
I forgot to say that if I go out of Inbox and go in another folder, the mouse come back to the normal pointer. Enter in Inbox again, sandglass again. Really strange.
I'm not sure what this has to do with the mail database. My guess is that the inbox is getting reparsed - this is pop3, right, not INBOX? Furthermore, I guess that we're not sending the folder loaded notification in this case. Do you have the get new mail on startup pref set?

I'm not sure of the component causing the problem. POP3 or SMB ? The problem is the same with or without "get new mail or startup". It's POP3, not IMAP4, but the problems occurs when you just go into the Inbox, not when you get messages from the POP3 server (at least concerning the first of our two problems). It looks like Mozilla is parsing the box again and again, but in fact it doesn't, since we have the focus and can work during this time. And it should stops after a few seconds, but it never stops (until you go into another folder). What is the "folder loaded notification" ?
the folder loaded notification is the thing that tells the front end to turn off the hourglass cursor. When reparsing is done, we should send the folder loaded notification. If we don't, we will have finished reparsing and everything will be ready to go, but the hourglass cursor will still be there. I'll try it out on my build.
