User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:83.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/83.0

Steps to reproduce:

i was browsing and when i opened up a new tab the browser required to be restarted because of updates, and then i clicked the button to restart it

Actual results:

the browser closed but didn't opened up automatically after

Expected results:

a full restart should've happened, instead of the shutdown

Same here, Ubuntu MATE 20.10.

Also, after a manual restart, language is reset to English US if another language was used.

I had Firefox 82.0.2 open and wanted to update it to Firefox 83.0. I didn't receive "browser required to be restarted because of updates" spontaneously, so I updated Firefox manually from Help->About Firefox and then I updated Firefox.
Firefox restarted and was updated correctly.

The issue might be reproducible only when "browser required to be restarted because of updates" spontaneously.

I am really, really sorry about this. I was just looking through some old bugs and noticed that there is a problem with the way that we triage bugs, and that some of them have been falling through the cracks. It looks like this bug was one of them. My sincere apologies.
