Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:83.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/83.0

Steps to reproduce:

use FF, version 80+, on osx
use osx "look-up" (a three-finger click on a word) to find a word in osx dictionary

Actual results:

FF stalls

Expected results:

dictionary should have opened, and show the word's translations
(this worked fine for years before FF 80 was released

a) I cannot confirm it started with v80 or v81, so I marked v81 in the version field
b) I tried a different mac computer, same result
c) this happens under Mojave, I do not know if it happens with Catalina or Big Sur as well
d) this bug is serious because the user cannot switch to another application while FF is stalled, nor can he kill FF (cmd-alt-esc does not work),
e) after the FF bug, I tried to use osx look-up with other applications, no problems at all

updated FF to 84.0b4 today, wanted to see if the problem had already been addressed,
just after installation and launch, the problem appeared gone,
I quit FF, started it again, used osx look up again, this time FF stalled as before,
Thought this "might" help.

Severity: -- → S3
Priority: -- → P3

problem seems completely gone with v 85.0b1

Thanks for letting us know!
