Steps to reproduce:

Type message then highlight part of the message and delete.

Actual results:

Cursor disappears, text remains highlighted and in place.
At times the window does not responding at all for a while.
Sometimes if you start to type the new text will start to appear and will overwrite the content that was deleted. I have also seen the deleted text (still showing as highlighted) start to flash at the rate the cursor would have been blinking.

This issue has only been occurring since the latest update to Thunderbird. This issue also does not occur every time but does occur very regularly.

Expected results:

Text should be deleted, cursor should remain visible and compose window should remain fully functional
