Thunderbird 78.5.0 high idle cpu load, constant indexing (when gloda enabled)

Steps to reproduce:
Since the automatich update to 78.5.0 i noticed my fans howling whenever thunderbird is up.
Actual results:
Taskmanager shows a CPU load between 6 and 11% even if TB is up for hours and doing nothing. The load seems to decrease while I move the mouse. This also happens if I start in safe mode.
I'm using Windows 7.

I tried older Versions down to 78.3.3, there is also high CPU load (~6%) but the threshold of my fans seems to be reached with 78.5.0 :-)
What the hell is TB doing to permanently use about half a core?

Tried changing the hardware acceleration off/on? (In the Thunderbird options)

Hardware acceleration was on, setting it to off makes no significant difference.
But if I disable global search and indexing (or so, I only see the german text) one line above the cpu load is near zero.
Is indexing running in an endless loop? I left it open for hours and CPU stays high.
Does indexing try to look up something online? I had an account where the server was long time dead (including name resolution) but I deleted it yesterday to make sure it is not the cause and still got high load.

No, not directly. To see what activity is in progress see tools > activity manager

Yes. In the activity manager I see the indexer permanently working. It is now (after ~15min) "indexing 39220 of 39312 messages (99% complete)" where both numbers are constantly growing.
This is at the Win7 machine. I'm currently working with a Win10 where the issue is different:
Some seconds after starting, I can see some folders being indexed but after ~5sec it stops "determining which messages to index in Github" where Github is a really existing folder with some 20 messages.
When I restart TB, it indexes the same folders than before again and stops after some seconds. Not always at "Github" but also on other folders.
Maybe this is somehow related to the effect on Win7?
While I write this message, The Win7 is indexing 49000 messages and counting...

In the activity monitor, it first indexed 7 messages in one folder what was quick, then it began indexing messages (without a folder name) where both numbers are constantly counting. It takes a few seconds to reach 99% but both numbers keep on counting indefinitely.

Same thing. Both on Win7 and 10.
BTW on the Win7 I deleted all accounts except my 1&1 so special provider seems not to be a problem.

I have the same issue in Thunderbird 91.3.1 (x64) on Kubuntu 20.10.
Thunderbird constantly consumes 23%-25% of CPU on idle causing heating and fans to be active.
- Increasing idle_limit to 30000000 (like in #1525565) had no effect.
- But disabling Global Search and Indexer in Thunderbird settings drops CPU load to almost zero.
When Global Search and Indexer is active - I see indexing and some folders updates in Activity Manager.
- The profile was moved from other computer.
