This is a tracking bug for bugs that drivers@mozilla.org consider important
to the success of Mozilla 1.2beta. Please do not change the dependencies
in this bug unless you are a driver.
.
Alias: 1.2b
Assignee: chofmann → asa
Target Milestone: --- → mozilla1.2beta
Depends on: 163648
Nominate :

- Bug 84042 "Mozilla freezes when retrieving a large number of newsgroup headers"
- Bug 131164 "Improve visual difference for unread or watched threads"
- Bug 56301 "connect a spellchecker engine for Mozilla"
- Bug 88515 "Mysterious 'nstmp' folder reappearing"
- Bug 98626 "100% CPU viewing e-mail w/ a background image"
nominating:
bug 76831 - slow startup after long periods of inactivity (minimized window)
bug 154849 - pref for showing single tab is ignored
bug 139242 - News: Thread with new messages spontaneously expands
Forget to nominate :

- Bug 166442 "make popup window blocking UI less hidden" (Hope it would be more
/complete/ = add site button ? - in 1.2 beta)
- Bug 147332 "Text entered into a Form Text area is lost."

That's all for now. ;-)
Nominating
bug 23679 and bug 35159 (NTLM auth bugs)
bug 32571 (has a patch and review)
bug 41924 (top100, has a patch and approval)
bug 45375 (usability)
bug 47475 (has a patch and is often duped, see bug 57505, bug 101508)
Nominate bug 106708. (patch & review)
Leftovers from bug 1.2a:

Bug 57724 View-source munging pages
This bug makes web development a pain. You cannot see where the problem comes
from. Simply stated: Mozilla lies about what really is on a web page.

Bug 143881 No obvious way to prefill form.
Having this wonderful feature to prefill forms becomes almost useless if it is
so hard to access it.

Bug 63182 Flash plugin context menu doesn't disappear on click, like other right
click menus
Very annoying to have the screen overlayed by a menu.

Bug 110949 Edit draft destoys quotes
This makes the use of the drafts folder useless.

Bug 165203 Bookmarks manager and sidebar bookmarks tab blank with migrated
profile in classic theme

pi
I nominate :
- bug 108653 keyboard focus is still in mozilla when changing application
- bug 130331 Strange front-end in 0.9.9 ("key_irc")
Asa,

Nominate:
Bug 167515 - Cannot install on WinXP SP1 (installer crashes)

At the moment, it looks like this may be preventing anyone on XP SP1 from
installing Mozilla.
Just one mac one, bug 90823.

Not having a window appear when switching to Mozilla is a violation of the Aqua
UI guidelines. The patch even has r/sr.

-Brett
Some serious bookmarks bugs would be nice:
Bug 139136, [ Set as Personal Toolbar Folder does nothing ]
Bug 139396, [ Sorting of Bookmarks doesn't work at all ]
Bug 21263, [ Imported Favorites from IE not sorted ]
Bug 127479, [ Drag n drop add to bookmark when no other bookmarks present is
broken ]
Nominating another mailnews bug :

bug 158217 : "New single/topic msgs show with collapsed twisty in Threads with
Unread"
Nominating bug 93426
Let me add some long time outstanding features for MailNews:
Bug 16913 Filter news based on any headers
Bug 63389 Need options for importing 4.x and Mozilla mails (mbox)
Bug 87107 "Get all new messages" in news server context menu
Bug 104604 Forward message quoted option missing.
Bug 108877 Support <news:msg-id> URLs
Bug 140377 Make e-mail address available for attribution line

And for the Browser:
Bug 62010 Back menu session history should be unbounded
Bug 104142 want infinite Back
Bug 140886 Add default system services to prefs.js

Clearly, I ask for too much, but if you could push one or two that would be great.

Depends on: 90823
Depends on: 167515
Depends on: 106708
Depends on: 32571
Some DHTML perf bugs:

bug 164931
bug 123668
bug 75121

Bug 168948 FTP download never terminates
is a must-fix. It makes FTP pretty useless.

pi
Two (of some 3000) bugs with target milestone in the past:
Bug 63292 session additions to global history lost on crash
 (has patch and review)
Bug 70728 Mail Editor adds two blank lines at the end on saving as Draft
 (has test patch)

pi
Please set bug 52436 on the radar... it can make getting mails a hell... and
it's a recent regression
I would like nominate bug 170143 - which makes Page Info useless.
Bug 133250 [ "Transferring data from..." remains on status bar. ]
Bug 142196 - Cannot get pop email sometimes (if profile is on network drive)
Nominating a regression bug 171261 (Not all cyrillic title letters enter in forms).
Well, since my first one got nominated, I'll go for broke.

Bug 26543 is to allow some additional Mac keypresses (most importantly, the
delete key) in the "Manage Bookmarks" window.

There's already an old (March 2000) patch to fix this.

-Brett
Some bugs for commercial blocking:
94118 blocked images are downloaded anyway
93390 "Block images from this server" should identify "this server"
94035 Allow blocking of any media type (flash, plug-in, applet, etc.) by site
(like cookies and images)
167047 image blocking dont support image redirection

pi
Nominating bug 170707
Bug 171981 is essential and bug 36339 (patch, old milestone) would be nice.
A bug from the last century:

bug 11076 *.eml, news://host/article or imap:// should open the article/mail in
a new mail window
This is a real pain, it makes news/nntp URLs almost useless, since the browser
window is not able to handle these messages properly, e.g., bug 11076 comment
36. In effect this bug blocks many more other bugs than are listed. There is no
hope to support message-ids in news articles as in references without this being
fixed.

pi
Bug 102848 Remove (was: ... in Subject line
has patch and r, needs sr and possibly (depending on time) a.

pi
Nominating bug 171441 ( Unable to download files - 2002092804 [installer] build
for Windows) and its dependent bug, bug 172158 (View Source -> File -> Save Page
As.. Crashes browser [@ XPCWrappedNative::CallMethod])
What about bug 160927 '"Customize Tab" breaks with JavaScript error'?

Surely this is a key feature of Mozilla?
My nominations are...:
bug 32157 [RFE] Title tips (tooltips) for cropped text
(probably the biggest UI *blooper* in mozilla)
bug 62586 Need Titletips (or tooltips) for Cropped Text in Message Header Pane
(the son of mozilla's biggest blooper)
bug 91662 Long strings in mail header cause scroll bars and attachment window to
          disappear, making message unviewable.
(very visible bug - second biggest mozilla blooper)
bug 92380 Context menu in Personal Toolbar incorrect when Sidebar items selected
(have you accidentally deleted an entire *bookmark folder* lately?)
bug 22687 [RFE] PGP Plugin
          (e-mail "security", pie-in-the-sky?)
bug 56052 Support PGP in PSM
(long neglected, but much *voted* for)
Two show-stoppers have been reported. Those damage major functionalities of
MailNews:
172808 words between < and > is not displayed (in bugmail)
172784 Links not "linkified" in mail & news messages unless format=flowed

pi
Depends on: 172508
Depends on: xft
Depends on: 172586
reducing page-load time is always a good thing
this one is hot - bug 170116
Depends on: 170533
I'd like to nominate
Bug 62026 - Inline images in news posts not rendered progressively.
This bug has been languishing for a long time and now even has a rough
fix which just isn't getting any sort of attention. I can vouch that
the fix enhances Mozilla's news and imap experience over dialup enormously.

nominating
127398- Searching with "body" makes GUI unresponsive
168066- Mail search does a complete boolean evaluation

fixing either of these would be a HUGE perf win in mailnews search.
I can't believe nobody has nominated bug 69938 yet - Downloads are stored in
/tmp regardless of path selection.

At the time of writing this appears on the "Most Frequently reported" list with
30 Duplicates, has 57 votes, has CRITICAL severity and is considered both a
dataloss AND performance issue!
I would like to nominate Bug 52821

This one is around for two years now, the discussion seems to be going nowhere,
many people would love to have at least a small fix, so a quick decision is
needed badly. Status critical, 23 votes, a simple no-risk fix is available.

Implementating other options can be discussed afterwards.
Nominating bug 159424 (nasty regression caused by the fix for bug 134315)
because it breaks working applications
My nominations:

Bug 131456, Bug 149607, Bug 171681 (probably duplicates):
memory leaking when closing tabs or windows

This seriously devalues tabbed browsing: depending on the content of the opened
tab or window, I sometimes exhaust almost 200MB of virtual memory within half an
hour, and have to close and reopen Mozilla in order to be able to continue.

Probably, a lot of the memory footprint complaints are, at least partially,
caused by this problem.
I find this bug very annoying:
Bug 121084
cache: Images requested twice -> "The image cannot be displayed, because it
contains errors." message [when "Compare the page in cache ..." set to "every
time I view the page"]
Thought I'd mention, bug 133250 has been reopened (regresssion). It was a
1.1beta stopper, so you may want to consider it here as well. Good luck.
Depends on: 174047
Depends on: 173818
I would like to nominate bug 17483. It's got over 100 votes, is ridiculously
old, nobody seems to be working on it, and I think we can all agree Mozilla
desperately needs it. It's the only thing that keeps me from using Mozilla's
newsreader.
Nominating bug 162271 Cannot download specific file types, regression, 8 dupes.
nominating bug 173519: mozilla crashes printing any mail message (Linux,
probably Mac)
Depends on: 149764
Nominating a recent regression:
Bug 173769: Can't type in the compose window on reply without clicking
I'd like to nominate bug 173953 -- a very recent (within 4-5 days) regression
that has completely broken replying in plaintext mode in mailnews.
Depends on: 174369
Depends on: 145196
I'd like to nominate Bug# 69938 and Bug# 65770 which both deal with downloads.
One where a download doesn't check that there is enough free disk space (causes
dataloss), and the other is about why the download doesn't go the the selected
directory immediately (thus avoiding the previous problem).
I'd like to nominate bug 174017 - Multiple enters after quoted text does not
move cursor
Another "vote" for Bug 142196. This bug basically prevents companies from
adopting Mozilla as their sitewide mail program if they use POP. It's a serious
problem that leaves a lot of people stuck with Netscape 4 until it's fixed.
Depends on: 172700
No longer depends on: 90823
No longer depends on: 170272
No longer depends on: 32571
I'd like to nominate Bug# 173703 because it makes mozilla's tabbed UI close to
useless, when people start closing tabs with a middle click.
Why is Bug 32571 set at the dependency-list of almost each 'make Mozilla xx not
suck'-bug, and than removed after a while? Well, I know, it's not easy to fix,
but this behaviour makes me mad...
Nominate:
Bug 117385 Can't delete/rename a folder with name containing 0x5b/0x5d/0x7c

This bug is critical for Japanese environment.
No longer depends on: 173818
No longer depends on: 106708
No longer depends on: key_irc
No longer depends on: 149764
No longer depends on: 172586
No longer depends on: 172700
Summary: make Mozilla 1.2beta not suck → make Mozilla 1.2 beta not suck
Summary: make Mozilla 1.2 beta not suck → make Mozilla 1.2beta not suck
Depends on: 174831
This should be marked WONTFIX because 1.2b sucks because of bug 174989
I want to Concur with Bug 173769 (it really breaks mail for normal use), but I
would add:
Bug 149049 - can't send within Excel (big problem for corporate use!)
Bug 104237 - Mail windows behind calling application (just plain annoying)
Depends on: 174765
So, 1.2b is out for a while now. Closing as fixed.
