Steps to reproduce:
For 15 years I have used email Inbox as my ultimate Get Things Done list. All/most of the tasks I have to do remain in the inbox indefinitely until I act on them. In fact, I usually save my emails to the same Inbox so I have the threads all in the same spot until I move them to their proper folder once the task is closed.
Now, this works well for me and I might not be the only one, but there could be an easy trick that made Thunderbird the ultimate tool for those kind of things: Having the ability to push emails/tasks down into the pile of emails.
Actual results:
(it cannot do it)
Expected results:
The idea would be to add a field to the email: hideTimestamp. Right now you can order the emails by Subject, sender name, Date and some other characteristics. Supose you create a new field named hideDate or hideTimestamp that defaults to Date. This timestamp would act like Date except that it would be editable. Right-clicking to the message might give you the ability to hide the message 1 day, 3 days or 1 week. Then the timestamp would be changed accordingly and no messages with hideTimestamp would show in the inbox until hideTimestamp<now(). Maybe, instead of totally hidding it you could show in Inbox first all messages with hideTimestamp<now() and then all messages with hideTimestamp>now();
This would be extremelly convenient. You could hide from inbox all messages that represents tasks that cannot be done yet, knowing that they will appear again in some time.
