(Whiteboard: [antivirus: ESET/NOD32])
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:83.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/83.0
Steps to reproduce:
TB automatically updated to v 78.5.0 (32 bit) and since then I am unable to receive emails (IMAP account) and sending gives an error message so it's not clear if it's been sent or not. Have since updated manually to 78.5.1 but that hasn't solved the problem. Tried turning down security level for TLS/SSL to 1 but didn't help.
Actual results:
Not receiving emails. TB says it's connected to the imap account but nothing happens. When sending an email I get an error message (translated from Dutch): Your message has been sent, but due to network problems or file access errors, a copy has not been placed in your sent messages (Sent) folder. (windows 10, IMAP email account)
Expected results:
My mails should have downloaded. Should not have gotten error message when sending email.

If you are using ESET/NOD32 security/AV then probability is high that ESET is causing your problems. According to ESET forums, you should temporarily disable SSL on ESET until they solve the problem per https://support.eset.com/en/kb3126-disable-ssl-filtering-in-eset-windows-products.
You might also inform ESET that they have broken your system. The problem is being reported by hundreds of users https://forum.eset.com/topic/26517-problems-with-thunderbird-and-imaps/ https://forum.eset.com/discover/
Thanks Wayne. I disabled SSL on ESET and all my emails came in on Thunderbird and were sent without an error message. After that I closed TB and enabled SSL again, and so far so good. TB is still working with my IMAP account. I will flag the problem with ESET.
