RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 395151

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0

Steps to reproduce:

When you delete one email, Thunderbird automatically opens the next email in the list, despite if its spam, an unsecure email or just an email you just want to open later and remain as unread meanwhile.

Expected results:

In "Preferences -> General -> Read and visualization" should be an option to deselect emails when you delete one.

This way, when you delete an email, instead of automatically opening the next one, Thunderbird would just unselect emails. It would act like something similar to "Deselect on Delete" extension.

This option even could be selected as a default preference since it could avoid people for mistakenly open insecure emails, and thus improve security overall.

Yeah, it could be an option.
For messages viewed in their own window, we'd probably need to close the window when there's no other message to show.
