User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:83.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/83.0
Steps to reproduce:
So, in this week I stared to have problems:
Just out of the blue, firefox starts to use alot of meamory. Ok, no problem, I have it. But then it grows and grows and then it will not response. Well, ok. Lets turn all the plugins of. Nope, same happens. Firefox restart dosen't help. If i restart it, it starts immediately( if i start to type something on the address bar) to take space and then no response. Incognito mode has same effect. The firefox performance dosen't show anything alarming. I update my graphiccard drivers. Didn't help. Only way I can use firefox is to use safe mode.
Actual results:
Firefox takes all the meamory (30gb) and stops resbonding in some point.
Expected results:
Nothing?

Andrew, Erik? Can you take a look at this memory report and have an opinion? Please let me know if I can help on the testing side.

There's nothing in the memory report that shows high memory. Maybe the process with high memory isn't responding.
Could you please get the data from about:support and put it in a file and attach that file to this bug please?
If it doesn't happen in safe mode, but still happens with all of your extensions enabled, maybe it is related to hardware acceleration or possibly a preference.

Olli, are you familiar with any problems with high memory usage from the Finnish spell checker?

Ok made one more test. Changed language to finish: whole firefox immediately starts to take memory and can't use it. Turn spelling off, same thing. So it is not about the spelling. Even if I don't have any extra tabs open and open settings, it gets stuck. One more think, that is strange: when I have finish(suomi) selected, I can't see any other language option. I have to add it as a option. When I have English selected, I can see English and Finish.
This is what I got now, maybe it helps

I don't use Finnish FF, but let me test.
Karli, could you provide exact steps how to reproduce the issue?
I just enabled Finnish in about:preferences#general and restart as the UI suggests. Everything is working fine.
Firefox (testing release version) parent process taking <200MB memory.

Also, if possible, could you try to capture a performance profile https://profiler.firefox.com/ before the situation gets too bad?
Share the profile using the upload button in the profiler.

I think I found the reason: spelling/language. I had it in "suomi"(finnish) and I noticed that there is no spelling check in safe mode. So I added english in the list and everything seems to work. Strange. Have to test more, is it because the spelling or the language.
This doesn't seem like a good logic to point spellchecker as the culprit?
And there is no Finnish spellchecker installed by default per https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/language-tools/, and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/finnish-spellchecker-dict/ (which seemingly is the only available Finnish one) doesn't seem to cause memory issue.
Since this issue had a year with no response, I'm closing this for now. Feel free to comment if this is still problematic.
