in Firefox 83.0, running on Mac Mini with M1 chip, when attempting to login to protonmail.com, at decrypting mail stage, operation does not complete (icon turns forever).

Steps to reproduce:

On Mac Mini with M1 chip
open Firefox 83
go to https://protonmail.com
click login
enter username
enter password
login succeeds
Protonmail says Decrypting
spinning Decrypting icon never stops

Actual results:

spinning Decrypting icon never stops

Expected results:

Decrypting process completes; mail windows display.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

I can't reproduce this on a new protonmail free account.

@Dave, if you're comfortable testing this out, could you check if the problem is reproducible for you with javascript.options.wasm=false in about:config. You'll have to restart the browser after making that change and you'll want to revert it after the test.

It looks like protonmail is using WebAssembly and there is a known issue with macOS 11 (fixed in macOS 11.1 soon to be released) which affects Firefox running under Rosetta on the Apple Silicon machines and sometimes causes a crash. (Firefox bug 1672843.) If the problem goes away with wasm disabled, it is likely to be the same problem.
