Steps to reproduce:
installed 84 manually on my laptop, Asus model with Intel chips running latest version of win 10 v 2004. As I reported before concerning win 7 pro, it crashed immediately startup after installation. task manager showed 2 FF processes for a few seconds, then reported "suspended," then both disappeared.
Actual results:
as above
Expected results:
should have run!

Today I tried experimenting on my desktop (win 7 pro) with installing FF 84 in safe mode. I put 83 in safe mode, installed through "about FF", and although it didn't come up in safe mode it did suddenly start working! it works fine now on the desktop. but I just now tried the same trick on the desktop and it didn't work. So I've had to reinstall 83, and I'm baffled.
more useful details:
can't try in safe mode, FF doesn't even open.
did two clean installs, same results.
am using FF 83 64-bit, trying to move to 84 without success.
removed Flash two days ago.
I run Truster Rapport constantly - another poster linked this to the problem.
windows is latest update for win 10 v 64-bit (not willing yet to install v 20H2)
drivers are all latest, I pay attention to this.
internet security is Norton 360 Premier, with live update working constantly. also I do live update manually from time to time.
last virus scan this morning. it's always clean, I'm a cautious person.

Trusteer is definitely known to cause problems with Firefox from time to time. Does disabling it allow Firefox to start?

Yes! Thank you. I stopped Rapport, started fF 83, entered safe mode, updated, and it started. Then I re-enable normal mode, exited FF 84, started Trusteer, and restarted FF. All well. Thanks again, and I'll remember the advice.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm going to dupe this bug over to another report on file and we'll reach out to our contacts at IBM to see if we can get this resolved with them.
