User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/87.0.4280.88 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install Thunderbird
  2. Add two IMAP accounts; let's call them "first" and "second"
  3. Create an event; notice that email address from "first" account is automatically listed as first invitee
  4. In the create event invitee list, replace "first" with "second", and add another invitee (anyone other than first or second)
  5. Send the invite

Actual results:

Even though you invited only "second" address and someone else (not you), and did not even invite "first" address to the meeting, the invitation email is still sent as from: "first" account and appears in the "first" account sent folder

Expected results:

Ideally the invitation dialog would allow me to choose the "from" address for the invitation. If not, then if only ONE of my multiple IMAP accounts is listed as an invitee, the default should be that invitation is sent "from" that address, not from a completely unrelated address that just happens to be first in my mailbox list.

This is both a privacy issue & a technical issue, because if anyone replies to the invitation that reply will go to a mailbox I don't expect and is not related to the meeting.

I think you need to right-click on the Calendar in the Calendar list select Properties > Email to change the email address associated with that calendar.

The invitation will be sent from the account that is configured to be used with that calendar.

Thanks, I was able to change the email address associated to the calendar this way, and also I can create separate calendars, each associated to a different email address, so it's just a matter of selecting which calendar to use when I create the event.

The new event dialog does let me choose a calendar, so if I create a separate calendar for every mailbox I can select the "from" address that way.

It would still be nice if the calendar selection defaults to 1) the calendar that is associated to the email address of the current mailbox being viewed, and 2) if that email address isn't associated to a calendar, or there isn't a current mailbox being viewed, then using either the first calendar or the last calendar selected would be fine.
