Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:84.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/84.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a log web page.
  2. scroll down with mouse wheel

Actual results:

Scrolling happens 1 lines at a time while previously it was 3 lines at a time. Also it feels like I need to turn the wheel more before scrolling kicks in. I tried increasing mousewheel.default.delta_multiplier_y to 300 and it is now similar like before. But scrolling still feels more sluggish.

Expected results:

Scrolling should happen 3 lines at a time as before.

btw I read about scrolling changes in changelog [1] but no link

Improved scrolling accuracy and control and fixed cases of unexpected scroll acceleration.

This issue might be related to bug 1684411 too. I see no crashes yet but sounds like scrolling changed affect other users as well.

Actually now it started to work properly without restart, without any configuration changes on my side.. This is very strange and probably not caused by Firefox itself. Thus I'm closing the issue.

Regards.

For anybody reading this for whatever reason. I think my issue was mouse wheel dust contamination that caused it not to detect scrolling properly. This apparently coincided with my Firefox update.
