Steps to reproduce:

78.6.0 - says the latest one - 32 bit.
Steps to reproduce - EACH TIME I start the thunderbird, works fine in safe mode though. No add ons of any kind and this is NOT hardware related. As I had this issue on my old PC - with 4770K cpu and no a totally new rig with 5600X CPU, keeps crashing again, totally new windows 10, fully updated.

Actual results:

I can't start the thunderbird, I suspect some kind of a software I use alongside the thunderbird is causing it to crash, but I use a lot of different applications and I need all of them. For example STEAM, EPIC Launcher, Kaspersky Total Security, Telegram, MSI Afterburner - I'm happy to send the logs if you could guide me through how to find them -)

Expected results:

IT should just work and start without any issues -)

I can see just 3 of them, but in reality it won't let me in to the thunderbird, as it would just crash during the start up, unless I use safe mode and then it's working just fine.

We can exclude that one, it's two hours of uptime so not a startup crash.

These two are startup crashes involving graphics. After you start thunderbird in safe mode, try disabling "use hardware acceleration" at options > and type "accel". Then restart Thunderbird

I think it's much better now. I disabled the hardware acceleration. It's very strange as I replaced 3 graphics cards and different drivers and it was still crashing, even with totally different spec/windows.

So far I only had 1 crash

bp-c4b395fc-9b50-4e83-99c9-047ce0210111

I wonder what is happening with the Thunderbird? I've been using it for so many years and never had any issues till just a few months ago.

Thank you.

What changed is version 78 enables hardware acceleration by default

OK I replaced my graphics card with 3070 now, we'll see how it's going to behave now. So far no crashes. That seem to make a huge a difference! Also I wanted to ask is there any link how to import/export all the emails from 1 thunderbird to the other one apart from copying the files manually?

Thank you.

Still good?

Import export tools addon. Best to ask in support.

It's fine now thank you. I tried with both 3070 and 6800 cards, no issues, I do keep the hardware acceleration switched off though. Would you recommend to switch it back on?

Thank you for all the help.

DO you know if Thunderbird is using a single core only or multiple cores? like 4 for example when I perform the search within my emails?

Thank you
Paul

Not worth switching back on.

currently single. That will change in version 91
