at launch 85.0b5 stalls temporarily on Mac; does not happen in 85.0b1

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/99.0.7113.93 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
start FF as always
Actual results:
only since 85.0b5 was installed: after launch, FF is shown in the Mac taskbar as "starting" (bouncing icon), not as started (solid icon), this can last up to 20 secs,
this is new and has never happened before (e.g. not under 85.0b1)
[I tried to go back to 85.0b1 to see if this would solve the problem - it did solve the problem]
Expected results:
start as rapidly as before (typically this takes 2 or 3 secs on my Macbook Pro)

Hi,
I wasn't able to reproduce the issue on MacOS 10.15.7 using 85.0b5, 85.0b7 or Nightly 86.0a1.
Did you create a new profile when you went back to check on 85.0b1?
Could you check if it also occurs on a fresh profile on the latest Beta? Here is a link that can help you with that:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles#w_start-the-profile-manager-when-firefox-is-closed
Thank you!
Profiles were not changed before, during or after the time when I installed / started 85.0b5, or when I went back to 85.0b1.
I do always start FF with the profilemanager. The problem occurred multiple times (before and after a complete osx restart) ... between the moment FF was launched and before the profile manager window was shown.
I am running osx 10.14 because I need it's 32 bit capabilities. May be this explains, why you couldn't reproduce the issue.
Best Ajay

Can you reproduce the issue on nightly?
Also, can you try 85.0b4, to narrow down which beta build caused this?

Bug 1683418 and bug 1683966 landed in 85.0b5 and could possibly be related.
Installed .0b4 today, no problems, so the problem was introduced with .0b5
Nightly has caused me problems in the past with my FF profiles. If you need me to do this anyway, just get back to me. Otherwise I would prefer not to install nightly. Best Regards

Peter, are you able to try on 10.14? If you don't have 10.14 currently you should be able to set things up so you can dual boot.

Hi Jeff,
I've asked my colleague to check it on MacOS 10.14 but he wasn't able to reproduce it either.
There was no difference in the time it took Fx to open between 85.0b4, 85.0b5 or the latest 85.0b9.

Really sorry to hear that this caused that much work.
So I thought it's best to try again. Went back to 0b5, and the problem was back. Could it be related to the add-ons installed ? This would lead into endless more testing. So I decided to install 0b9 this morning. No problems at all.
Anyway - Thanks again !
