User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:84.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/84.0

Steps to reproduce:

This appears to be an old bug from over 10 years ago that has crept in again on Mac. Only commenced with this build of Firefox. Click on url in email and 2 windoes open; the one from the url and then a blank window on top.

Actual results:

See above

Expected results:

See above

OS: Unspecified → macOS
Hardware: Unspecified → Desktop

I'm unable to reproduce the issue using Firefox 84.0.2 or Firefox Nightly 86.0a1 on MacOS 10.15

Could you check if this also occurs on a fresh profile? (you will not lose your old one)
Here is a link that can help you with that:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles#w_start-the-profile-manager-when-firefox-is-closed

Thanks!

Created new profile as requested. Two windows opened when I clicked on an email link. See attachment I added with screenshot of my Macmail, the link I clicked on and 2 windows opening.

The issue seems to be a duplicate of Bug 1600153
