Hello,
Environment:
- Thunderbird in French under Debian GNU/Linux 10
- Gmail in French
- Locale fr_FR.UTF-8
Steps to reproduce:
- Launch Thunderbird with a cleaned Gmail folder (here cleaning all malformed msf files and removing them on disk and from Gmail web interface, it's just to ensure the problem comes from Thunderbird)
- Open Thunderbird
- Open the "Messages envoyés" folder within Thunderbird
Result:
Thunderbird reports an error and create the folder "Messages envoys.msf (codage non valide)" on my hard drive.
"codage non valide" means invalid encoding.
Expected result:
Thunderbird should display the "Messages envoyés" folder and not create a buggy folder on the user's hard drive.
Thanks in advance.

Alex ARNAUD, this looks very similar to your bug 1685033, so I hope it will be fixed by the other bug. Marking dependent.

Another regression of bug 1571672, like bug 1686034.

Let's check this after bug 1686034 is finished.
Could be related to bug 1686034 comment #37.

In an English version of today's Daily I set the Sent folder to a new folder called Senté in the account settings. After sending a message, this message ended up in the Senté folder. BTW, there are Senté and Senté.msf on disk.
So this was likely fixed by one of the recent regression fixes for bug 1571672. Please reopen if you still see this issue.
