After viewing PDF-document with the browser the Acrobat Reader process remains
in memory so that it is visible in Task Manager and the Mem Usage is 20MB.

The AcroRd32.exe -process remains in memory even if I close a tab, close Mozilla
and exit the Quick Launch.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a PDF-file using Mozilla
2. Close all Mozilla related products
3.

Actual Results:
AcroRd32.exe remains in Task Manager reserving over 20MB of memory.

Expected Results:
The Acrobat Reader process should be gone and memory released.

- Using W2k SP3
- Installed Acrobat Reader v.5.0.5.
I assume the PDF file is being opened within the browser window (via the
Acrobat plugin), rather than by Acrobat running as a helper application.

If the acrobat plugin is launching AcroRd32.exe as a COM server (which I think
it is), the COM implementation in Windows is responsible for asking the
executable to exit when all outstanding external references are released. It
may take a couple of minutes before this occurs.

Could you check that that isn't what's happening here? Alternatively, does
AcroRd32 exit immediately if you do the same thing via Internet Explorer?
one more time..this is invalid. not a mozilla problem. acrobat should close it's
process.

I'm glad to confirm this is not a Mozilla issue.
The result is exactly the same when trying with MSIE 6 SP1. So, the Acrobat Reader seems to be buggy.

This case can be closed.
Keep up the good work guys! :-)
