Let's target fixing this in M7.

This is tracked as part of Fission, so I don't think tracking this also as a qf bug is particularly useful.

The regression here is down from 20-40% to 7-10% with the Non-native Theming landing for mac, and the preallocation delay patch (bug 1694036). There probably are more gains that can be made here.

We should target getting this regression down to at least 5%.

Randell said he's looking into this instead of Barret.

Latest measurements show that this continues to be 8-10% regression on Mac, even with newer HW (Mac Mini R8’s; 6x2 core i7’s). This is within our release criteria targets and is good enough for Beta.
We'll continue looking for performance optimization opportunities for this and moving this to M8 (Release).

The 8% regression only shows up on older test platform (r7 Mini with 10.14, compared to r8 Mini (hex-core) with 10.15). 10.15/r8 shows a 4-5% regression.

Here is a more recent Perfherder link for Yahoo! Mail:
Fission doesn't look much worse than e10s.

That's for OSX 10.15 (new mac minis, fast). The 10.14 mac minis (old) are the ones that regress.

This bug is a soft blocker for Fission MVP. We'd like to fix it before our Release channel rollout, but we won't delay the rollout waiting for it.

Around 7% on 10.14 old macs now. This is good enough
