Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC; en-US; rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020722
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC; en-US; rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020722
Specifically last seen with Travelocity. Tried to make a reservation and just as
the page was loading, I think Javascript was activated. Now Mozilla was hung.
Could force quit from Mozilla to Finder but find that "connected to Internet via
Modem" diplayed by Airport (wireless via Airport base station) Utility is
switched to "connected to Internet via Ethernet.
At this point trying to do anything else will cause system to hang. I can quit
open apps though. Trying to shutdown or restart my Powerbook has to be done by a
forced restart only.
This has been seen at some sites randomly - but with Travelocity I can reproduce
it exactly by
1. Choosing a schedule
2. Selecting the flights
3. Choosing to either "buy" or "Hold/Save"
4. Opens the next page where I am supposed to confirm 3. but then the above bug
kills the browser and also the OS.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Powerbook G3/400 Pismo, OS 9.2.2, Internet via Airport via Modem (Earthlink)
2. Go to http://www.travelocity.com
3. Search for flights, select a couple and prepare to Buy or Hold/Save.
4. Click on Buy or Hold/Save
Actual Results:
Browser froze
Hard quit (Cmd-shift-esc) required to quit.
Airport utility shows "connected to Internet via Modem" diplayed by Airport
Connection app is switched to "connected to Internet via Ethernet.
Internet connection is broken.
I cannot do a restart or shutdown - have to force shutdown.
Expected Results:
Displayed the page with the flights selected and option to continue.
Powerbook G3 400 Pismo
Mac OS 9.2.2
Airport
Internet via Airport via Earthlink.
Al, that build is very old by now. Please retest using a more recent build such as 1.1 or 1.2a.
Ok, I tried this with build (complete new install)
Mozilla 1.2a
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC; en-US; rv:1.2a) Gecko/20020910
the problem IS repeatable.
I also find that activating Airport during the Javascript or Page Loading at
Travelocity (BUY Stage of ticket purchase) will also cause both Airport Utility
and Mozilla to hang. I can force-quit from both but some how the Internet
connection is broken and I cannot clean restart the system. Have do a forced
cmd-shft-power restart.
I will try to reinstall Airport and OS also.
Al, I doubt you need to reinstall your OS. You might try testing another Mozilla user profile first.
5 months later... Al Matt, do you still see this problem in 1.2.1 or later?
Unreproducable. Also,
Mozilla CFM build is dead.
