User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/88.0.4324.104 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

(My interface is in italian, i'll keep that string to avoid error on translate)

  • Open a new message
  • Opening side menu of "Allega"
  • FileLink
  • Wetransfer
  • looking for my file on a network drive
  • selecting it

Actual results:

An "Errore di invio" dialog appear saying "Impossibile inviare [FILE_NAME] a WeTransfer."

Expected results:

The download link should be automatically inserted directly into the text of the email.
With a remote file it will definitely not work. I have had this happen with local files (from desktop).

Hi Massimo, we need translations of all the Italian strings, also the yellow one at the bottom - can you use Google Translate?

Can you disclose the structure of the network file path of the file which you're trying to upload to WeTransfer?
What makes you think that this is a bug in Thunderbird?

Severity: -- → S3
Summary: WeTrasnfer upload fail if source file is on a network drive → WeTransfer upload fails if source file is on a network drive

Rough translation:

Opening side menu of "Allega"

Opening side menu of "Attach"

An "Errore di invio" dialog appear saying "Impossibile inviare [FILE_NAME] a WeTransfer."

A "Sending Error" dialog appear saying "Unable to send the [FILE_NAME} to WeTransfer."

the yellow one at the bottom - can you use Google Translate?

Thanks Alessandro for doing the dirty work ;).

Anyway. The path is very simple as I used a file directly in the root: "I:\Test document.pdf" ("I:" = "\ip\share_1" - for security reason i can't give the ip and the share_1 but they are just an IP and a share named with 1 single word).
I'm assuming thunderbird is the problem as the files are perfectly reachable from any other application and no operations have been performed on the servers or network rules. Up until a couple of days ago it went without a problem. I don't exclude that it's a WeTransfer problem, but I had to start my research somewhere :)
I tried uploading a file via wetransfer (without filelinking) and had no problems. Attaching the file "as is" to the email as well.
Only the filelink gives me an error.
I've already tried removing the "wetransfer account" from the Thunderbird settings and setting it up again but it was in vain.

I was also wondering if there had been an update to thunderbird (since I have automatic). I'm trying to see if I can find a log of when the last update was performed (not released) to see if it might be related. I did a quick search but couldn't find anything useful.

I look forward to hearing from you and thank you again for your help.

Hi to all!
Unfortunately, the problem persists. Has anyone managed to find a solution?
Am I the only one with this problem?

I look forward to your kind reply and wish you all a good day.

Good Morning :)

Still filelink is not working... I have to upload it via browser and copy the link... No one have suggestion or experience?

Kindly,

I also have this bug for several months !!! This happens in all the computers on my company!!! Please fix this!!! This happens on files located locally or on network. Sometimes, when I try to attach several files, it can attach some of them but not all, but most of the time it fails on all files.

I guess this is not valid anymore since we dropped WeTransfer integration due to their API being removed.
