Details
Goto and watch the loading throbber in the middle of the page.
With webrender it is very "jumpy", small jumps, as it rotates. Without webrender it's a bit smoother. Chrome and Safari are quite smooth.

I'm using regular (hardware) webrender. The effect is much more noticeable on an external non-retina screen. Very similar to bug 1690835, in that the animation updates at the proper intervals, but it looks like we are doing snapping that's too visible.

Put up a patch in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1690835 that fixes that case. It's likely to fix this too, so we can probably close as a dupe?

I just tested the patch in bug 1690835, it did not fix this issue for me.
