Steps to reproduce:
With repeat option set to weekly, I entered an end date in the Until box.
Actual results:
After save and close, the event was listed weekly forever. I re-opened the edit window, and the Until box now displays "forever". My entered date had been overruled.
Expected results:
The weekly events should have stopped after the ending date I entered.

I could not reproduce using Thunderbird 78.7.1 or Windows 10 or 78.7.0 on Fedora 33 Workstation.
Created a test event in my Home calendar that starts on 02/10 @ 5 pm.
Set repeat to Weekly until 03/10.
Saved and Closed the dialog.
Checked all views and the event only repeats weekly on every Wednesday until 03/10.
Repeated the operation with my Google CalDAV calendar and no issue seen.

John, can you please check the behavior with the most recent release, Thunderbird 78.8.1? This could be a duplicate of bug 1686466, although the bug title suggests otherwise.
Martin, thanks for your response. I have upgraded Thunderbird to 78.8.1 and retested it. The symptoms now are still exactly the same as in my original submission of this bug, so no improvement.
