User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:85.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/85.0

Steps to reproduce:

I enabled Master Password.

Actual results:

After starting and using Firefox for some time, the Password window pops up randomly, grabbing characters intended for another window.

Expected results:

The window to enter the password should pop up immediately as Firefox is started. and should not be a random event.

Hi there, thanks for filing this. Do you happen to have Sync enabled? If you have Sync enabled, we need to prompt for the Primary Password to sync logins. Syncs happen in the background, shortly after startup, and periodically thereafter. That is usually these cause of "random" prompts. The other possibility is a website has a hidden login form on the page for which there is a saved login. That triggers form autofill with the saved login, which requires the Primary password. Do either of those possibilities sound like what you are encountering?

Auto-Sync was enabled.
It seems to me that the Primary Password, once entered at Firefox startup, should eliminate the need for me to re-enter it in order to Sync accounts, but, on the other hand, I do not leave Firefox running when I am going to be away from my computer (in a private setting) for more than a brief period. In order to protect people who do not lock their computers in an office environment, I guess that the current Sync protocol is the right one.
I have turned auto-Sync OFF for now, and will re-sync when necessary. I will keep the "hidden login screen" in mind for the near future.

Thanks for the prompt response.
Peter
