User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:85.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/85.0

Steps to reproduce:

Set up multiple mail accounts
Switched to Unified folders

Actual results:

The unified INBOX folder line shows an unchanging number of Unread and Total emails, in my case, 20 and 1694 respectively. None of the other primary unified folders, e.g., SENT, TRASH, DRAFTS, etc., show any numbers for Unread or Total.

Expected results:

I cannot find a way to clear the erroneous numbers in the INBOX line.

Does problem reproduce when using newer version (91 for example) with Help > Troubleshoot mode?

Now, using version 91.3.0, none of the primary unified folders INBOX, DRAFTS, SENT, JUNK and TRASH show the number of unread and the total number of messages as they used to. All of the sub-folders for each mail account show the correct numbers. Is this a change?

Summary: Incorrect folder count → none of the primary (special) unified folders INBOX, DRAFTS, SENT, JUNK and TRASH show the number of unread and the total number of messages

The Folder Pane Toolbar is enabled, you have the Unread and Total columns enabled, and don't see that information in the columns using Unified folder view for the Inbox, Drafts (if one in progress) and junk (if one is received)?

I don't understand why I would see unread messages in the Sent and Trash folders, unless marked as Unread.

Flags: needinfo?(rcl1966)

I have five mail accounts. With the Inbox, for example, I see the number of Unread and Total messages for each account but don't see those numbers on the Inbox line as I used to see. The Inbox numbers used to show the sum of all of the Unread messages and the sum of all of the Total messages. Similar sum totals are missing from Drafts, Sent, Junk and Trash. I'm using 91.3.2.

I don't think I can help not knowing how Unified folder view works, being an All folders user.

In my test with 91.3.2 I didn't see any issue with my six accounts.

I enabled Unified, disabled All, and have the Unread and Total columns enabled in the Folder Pane.

Ok. I'll go without this feature that used to exist. Let's close this thread.

Bob, does this still reproduce with version 115?

If it does ...

  • Install https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/unified-folders-debugging/
  • '''If you do not see the "Unified Folders" heading in the folder pane, then click on "..." next to "New messages", click "Folder Modes", enable an additional folder mode to force the "Unified Folders" heading to appear '''
  • in the folder pane, next to the "Unified Folders" heading, click on ⋮ three vertical dots, do not do "Reset Unified Folders"
  • click Debugging Info > click Copy to Clipboard and save the clipboard somewhere
  • click Close.
  • in the Unified Folders heading click on ⋮ three vertical dots, and do "Reset Unified Folders". (DO THIS LAST)

Does that help?

The issue seems to be resolved as I can now see the # unread and the total number of messages for each folder.
