Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0

Steps to reproduce:

On Linux Mint Ulyssa Cinnamon 64bit (it worked on Win10), with Firefox 85 (addons confirmed to not be the issue):
Go to https://send.tresorit.com/a#-xtlo-NJ6LZbO9Zr_YOK0w
Attempt to download file

Actual results:

Website uses blobs. Finally loaded to 100% , opened the prompt for whether you want to save file or open with archive manager, and froze. Nothing works except moving the cursor, and even that only sometimes. Need to turn off the power and reboot.

Expected results:

Prompt opens normally, no freeze, user chooses option and file is saved/opens with program.

I feel that this is lacking in detail but don't quite know what to add. I'm new in bug reporting, sorry!

So upon further testing, the latest facts are:

  • Bug occurs on Win10 LTSC and Linux Mint Ulyssa Cinnamon the same
  • Is not caused by addons, still occurs with them disabled
  • these about:config tweaks may be causing it, I may test on a new profile without them tomorrow.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Toolkit::Add-ons Manager' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Add-ons Manager
Product: Firefox → Toolkit

Moving back to Firefox::Untriaged (based on comment 0 and comment 3 the issue is not caused by addons).

From comment 2 it seems that the issue may be more likely related to some of the about:config prefs.

It may also be a good idea to see if QA can reproduce the issue consistently by setting the prefs as described in comment 2 (and then maybe bisect the pref that is introducing the issue, e.g. by resetting half of the prefs and see if the issue can still be reproduced after restarting Firefox, then keep bisecting the half of prefs that are still reproducing the issue until we identified the subset that is actually triggering the issue.

Component: Add-ons Manager → Untriaged
Product: Toolkit → Firefox

Hi, I tested this on w10 as you said in comment#3, set the configurations as you said in comment#0, but I can download a file without problems. I tested this on Nightly 84. Can you please download Firefox Nightly from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/ and retest the problem and see if the issue still occurs there as well?

Thanks, Flor.
