Go to about:config and set browser.proton.tabs.enabled=true
Go to Customize mode and enable Touch mode
ER:
The close button on the tab should be visible
AR:
The close button icon is not visible but clicks where the button resides do work to close the tab

Verified as fixed on Firefox Nightly 88.0a1 (2021-03-17) on Windows 10 x64, Windows 7 x64 and on Ubuntu 20.04.
