I know the issue is more general than this, and not specific to the Invalid Bugs product, but these are the steps
Change product to Invalid Bugs, tab to component, typing "G" doesn't select General component
Works for me (nightly on macOS).
Can you please provide your OS and browser version?

Mac, Firefox 86 beta. I have not tried safe mode.
I just tried on Windows - which I haven't done for a year or two. Apparently there is a difference between my Mac and Windows. On Windows when I tab from having changed product to "invalid", I can see focus (indicated by blue ring) move to Search button, the wordk "Component", component field, "version", version field, etc.
But on Mac two things are different
- I don't see a blue focus ring on component field and version field (is that normal?),
- focus moves from product field, to "component", to component field - tabbing skips the search button. I had not taken that last possibility into consideration. Is that expected?

You should see a focus ring on macOS. That doesn't sound like a Bugzilla issue however.

Sounds like you were only hitting tab once instead of twice to move from the Product to the Component field; so your keypresses were sent to the Search button instead.
