Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826

holding mouse-1, you can drag a link, mouse-2 will open a menu of options. the
two do not mix: If you use mouse-2 to open the popup and then, click down on the
link (popup stays up until the release) and, when you see the floating page
cursor, drag that cursor over the popup, you have to sneak in via telnet to kill
mozilla-bin before you can use the display.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.mouse-2 to get the popup menu for a link
2.mouse-1 on the link and drag to get the page cursor (this part is tricky to do
on purpose, but real easy to do by accident!
3.drag the page cursor over the popup menu.

Actual Results:
X-windows or gnome/sawfish is locked solid. you can't change windows, you can't
click; the mouse moves but nothing underneath will respond.

Expected Results:
if in a drag and drop, unless it is to place a link into a personal tool bar
(which doesn't work anymore :( ), the menus should close.

mozilla-1.1-5mdk on Mandrake 9.0RC1, which is based on Gnome2
worksforme with current linux trunk and 1.1. left-click on a link while the
popup is up cancels the popup and I can't even drag the link anyway. I have to
left-click again to drag.

Note that the drag-n-drop page thing is a big perf hit (by itself) for remote X
displays (don't know where the bug is tho). Are you running X remotely?
Summary: drag&drop over popup menu can lock gnome/X11 → drag&drop over popup menu can lock gnome/X11
No I run X locally on a 700Mhz PIII; do note that I trip this by accident, so it
could be a double click effect -- I have Emulate3Buttons mouse, and if they are
not clicked just right, it can cause this sort of effect. Also note that I am
using an older Mozilla 1.1 ... I hope to upgrade sometime in the next week or
so when Mandrake 9 is released.

I have the sequence wrong in my initial report: mouse-3 for popup, then nearby
the popup, mouse-2 on the link and move quickly such that the page-cursor covers
the popup before it can vanish. It's tricky to do on purpose.
Is this the same bug as is bug 147838? It looks like it.
Always reproducable when clicking both left AND right buttons on bookmark in
manager and THEN moving a mouse.

Easiest way to restore display/mouse -> press alt!

It's really looks like it is same as bug 147838.
