Turning a comment on n.p.m.wishlist into a real RFE :)
Those of us that use mozilla as a primary mail/news client and read a fair bit
of usenet would probably find this a major benefit....
Would be nice in the account/folder/newsgroup pane to have the option
to display newsgroups hierarchically, with branches of the newsgroup tree
collapsible/expandable to focus on the groups I'm interested in looking at in
*this* session rather than everything I'm subscribed to.
Even better would be if its intelligent enough to do it on the basis
of "deepest common peer", concatenating levels of the hierarchy where
only a single branch is required something like this...
Say I'm subscribed to comp.os.solaris, comp.os.linux
netscape.public.general, netscape.public.mozilla.mail-news and
netscape.public.mozilla.wishlist. The fully-expanded tree ends up like
this:
news.nowhere.org
|
+-comp.os
| |
| +-linux
| |
| +-solaris
|
+-netscape.public
|
+-general
|
+-mozilla
|
+-mail-news
|
+-wishlist
This bug is out there already, somewhere. I just can't find it right now.

After quite a bit of effort (unsurprising that it wasnt easy since I searched
for a while before posting this one) I found it.. its 38931. Knowing that
somebody else believed it was out there gave me the persistence to track it
down. Marking dup.
