Try Ă ă Ş ş Ţ ţ These are romanian characters and should render as accented roman characters. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
They render as accented characters on my setup (Jaguar). The ugliness of the rendering is due to bug 163085 and bug 165878. Reporter, could you provide a screenshot of the misrendered characters?
WorksForMe using Chimera/2002091704 on 10.1.5. Gabriel, you need to be more specific than "funky."

Chimera shows me the same chars you see on Windows. Have you installed any fonts that didn't come with OS X?
I installed IE and Office v.X fonts. Do you think that caused it? It didn't work with the default fonts for Central European pages, actually the fonts didn't even exist on my system. I set the default CE fonts to Times and Arial and I got the same results. Any suggestions?
HEY! I checked again the *same page* and it "kinda" works! The effect of the Mac OS X 10.2.1 update? Now the correct characters are displayed but in a different font. They are always regular (as in not-bold) and the accents look a bit out of place. Looks like they were forced on the basic shape. I guess Chimera "makes-up" the characters instead of using the right unicode characters. I've seen this on other browsers too.
Gabriel, you probably didn't have fonts installed that contained the characters, and updating your OS added some fonts. Chimera isn't making up the characters.
WorksForMe in 2002101904 on 10.2.1 with nothing but standard OS X fonts installed.
Works for me in 2002102104. Marking this WORKS since we already have bugs covering the remaining issue with ugly ATSUI rendering.

This is still a problem for me as of Camino NB 2004012103 (v0.7+). Please try the page http://www.timbru.com/jurnal/2003.old/000081 you will notice that the page title is different in the page body and in the window title. You will also notice that Safari or any other browser displays the page correctly.

Summary: HTML entities are rendered incorrectly → HTML entities are rendered incorrectly ( Ă ă Ţ ţ )
In 1/16/03 nightly on 10.2.8, I get what I assume are the correct characters, but not matching the other chars in the words (f'rinstance not anti-aliased). Sounds like a font issue.

Mina, could you please send me - or attach here - a screenshot of what you see at that url? I've had this problem in two different machines and in both Jaguar and Panther. Maybe even in 10.1.
They do appear correctly on your screenshot. I checked all the font settings and set them to Times and Courier, I get the same results. These are the settings I use in Safari as well. I did not touch the font files, they are the ones that came with Panther. I am confused.
