If you need more sync logs I can share those as well.

Hello,

I’ve attempted to reproduce the issue on the latest Nightly (88.0a1/20210307213430), Beta (87.0b7/20210307185839) and Release (86.0/20210222142601) under Windows 10 x64 and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, however without success.

I’ve installed several extensions (Tree Style Tab, HTTPS Everywhere and Firefox Multi-Account Containers), changed the default settings and added several custom containers. I’ve then proceeded to sync across the above mentioned versions and across the same version but on different profiles and everything synced as it should.

Hello,

that is interesting. During the weekend I also tried different versions as well as different OS.
Tried to sync on Windows with Firefox as well, these logs are actually from a Mac. Whatever I did nothing synced my profile.

Luckily I was able to restore an older profile but in the case of syncing nothing work, whatever I tried.

Could it be an issue with my profile / account?

Sorry you are having this problem. The first of those logs shows you sign in to your account, and also has the uri is null errors, which I believe is transient. The other log shows sync working completely normally. Did you reset your password as part of the login process?

If you visit https://wiki.mozilla.org/CloudServices/Sync/File_a_desktop_bug, you can find a reference to an addon called about:sync - this will help you see what is stored on the server. I'm fairly confident that your passwords aren't going to be there - so the question isn't going to be "why didn't this new profile download them?" but rather "why aren't they on the server?". Resetting your password is one obvious reason for that.

Sadly the about:sync gives an error aka "Address doesn't exist" while "about:sync-log" works.

Since the FireFox password is in my Keychain, I am certain I haven't reset the password. Meanwhile I was able to restore all passwords and containers from a backup, so I am up and running.

Is there something I can do to check that everything gets sync on top of that. I also enabled tracing as the article stated.

Thanks for continuing to help us here. Before going any further, we should try and work out why about:sync isn't working for you - it should work if you have the addon installed, and will help you see what's on the server, which helps understand whether the failure is due to not syncing it "up" or not syncing it "down".

Beyond that, now that you have trace logging enabled, I'm afraid we probably need to reproduce the issue - either as you originally described, or reproducing with failure to add new logins or a new addon. If you can repro it, we will need logs from both the profile that created the new item, and logs from the profile that failed to see the new item after creation.

Thanks for your help!

Sorry missed the part of installing the addon. ;) I could reproduce the issue easily perhaps. I still have a backup of the old failing profile.

What I also could to is to backup the current working active profile and start first with the faulting profile and a profile from scratch. However we should proceed here.

Severity: -- → S3

Hi,

I have tested your issue on release 97 and latest Nightly 99.0a1 build and could not reproduce it using macOS 10.15 and win10.

If this is still reproducible on your end, can you please retest this using latest FF release and latest Nightly build (https://nightly.mozilla.org/) and report back the results? When doing this, please use a new clean Firefox profile (https://goo.gl/AWo6h8).

Thanks!
