Mr. Overlay?
There is no bookmarks menu being planned in the tasks menu. Bookmarks is in fact its own menu. If mail needs to have access to bookmarks, it should (for consistency reasons) also be placed as a main menu.

So, can we morph this into "add a bookmarks menu to the mail window"?

According to the Mail Spec there should be a "Bookmarks" menu item under the Tasks menu. http://gooey/client/5.0/specs/mail/messenger/MailMenus.html.

I'd like this too. (global Tasks->Bookmasks menu item).

BrowserEditBookmarks from navigator.js should be moved to tasksOverlay.js (or something) to make it easily accessible. Perhaps renamed to 'toBookmarks' to follow the naming convention of the rest there (toHistory, ...) Can someone do this? Then it's very simple to add the Bookmarks menu item to the menus. (Making the Ctrl+B/Ctrl+Shift+B work appropriatelly is more work, but that is a separate bug. I had it done but mistakenly rm-rfed the directory).

I suggest that the "Bookmarks" menu should be copied in its entirety from the Navigator Menu into the main Mail menu. My primary reason for wanting access to my bookmarks from mail are simple: I very frequently want to put a bookmarked URL into a newsgroup posting or an e-mail. It seems pretty stupid to have to start up the browser, start up bookmark manager, find the bookmark, right-click, pick "Properties", select the URL, copy it onto the clipboard - when all one should have to do is click on "Bookmarks", navigate to the desired bookmark, and select "Copy Link Location". Note that the last part depends on bug #50504. Bug #50504 is a real mind boggler: even with only ten days to go before the official release date for Mozilla 1.0 there are no context menus for bookmarks ! A secondary reason for wanting Bookmarks from Mail/News is that I often go straight to mail/news when I start Mozilla and do not open a browser window unless something in my mail or news inspires me to do so. Eg: I might want to check that a bookmarked link really is relevant to a discussion before I post the URL to a newsgroup.

There are no plans to implement this in SeaMonkey right now, and also no very compelling usecase (the only real usecase here is comment #14, and that's IMHO best achieved with an extension that allows the sidebar including the bookmarks panel in mailnews).
