I was not able to reproduce the issue from Comment 0 either on macOS 10.15.7 or macOS 11.2.3 on Firefox 88.0a1 (2021-03-09) by setting the proton pref and having "non-proton dark" theme set.

Seems that Firefox looks as expected on Firefox 89.0a1 (2021-04-05) so it is safe to say this was fixed.
