RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 405108

People

(Reporter: screeningin, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:86.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/86.0

Steps to reproduce:

Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon, vs. 4.6.7. Firefox 86-64 bit. When one selects "save bookmarks" , the "show all bookmarks", then "Bookmarks Toolbar", "Views", "Sort", Z-A sort, it will sort on that Library screen, but not on the main menu.

Actual results:

Sort doesn't occur.

Expected results:

Sort should occur. Workaround: clear Bookmarks Toolbar. Do the sort in another folder, and copy back to the Bookmarks Toolbar folder. It is then sorted correctly.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Bookmarks & History' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Bookmarks & History

While I'm pretty sure that this behavior is intended, this could at least be treated as an enhancement, if not a defect.

I can confirm, the behavior that the reporter has described on all platforms and I would like to allow the dev team to decide what to do with this report further.

Thank you for the report!

The Library window sorting is volatile, it does not persist. To permanently sort contents of a folder (included the bookmarks toolbar), you should right click on it and choose Sort By Name.
