RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 37867

Details

It would be nice to have a keyboard shortcut to enter the "http://www." & ".com"
parts of an address for you. (Eg. a type in google, hit the key, and it goes to
http://www.google.com).

Even better if it was customisable (say to enter .com.au instead of .com, or ftp
instead of www), or even if you could have more than one such shortcut.

Internet Explorer has this feature (ctrl-enter), and it is the only thing I miss
about it.

I'm sorry, but this is definitely *not* a duplicate of Bug #37867.
Why not? because the CTRL+Enter combination is merely pointed here as the way
this functionality is implemented in IE, it is not the request of the bug
opener.

IE users could use *any* keyboard shortcut instead of the significantly slower
domain guessing (~5 seconds vs. instantaneously is significantly slower).

The reason Bug #37867 was WONTFIXed is specifically the fact that CTRL-Enter
was already used for something else, that's all.

I request to reopen this bug.
