User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0; T312461; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) Build Identifier: 2002091908 Every now and then mozilla crashes unexpectedly on me. Sometimes things work fine for a couple of days, then I get a crash again. I have no idea of what causes this crash, but what bothers me especially is the following behavior, which I first noticed in 1.2alpha. Once I've had had this first crash, I cannot use Mozilla anymore in the current windows session. Even though after the crash Mozilla is gone from memory, the fast startup icon in the icon tray is gone, all windows are closed (obviously, after a crash), starting mozilla again will always lead to a crash on the second or third page openend, regardless of where I surf to. I can only get rid of that problem by rebooting Win2k. Here are 3 talkback IDs from a recent occurence of this problem: TB11301073E (the first crash) TB11301107W TB11301124G (two crashes resulting from the first one) Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Steps to Reproduce: Haven't found a sure way to reproduce the first crash. But after first crash more crashes will always follow
Now the problem persists even after reboot of Win2k... Browser crashes on second page after start up page - pages I had no problem with before the first crash described above (about 40 min ago). I have not changed my system in the time between there being no problems and now with all the crashes. Tried updating to 2002092008, to no avail Talkback ID of crashes after reboot: TB11302219Y TB11302085K TB11301899Y TB11301812G

Here are the unique stacks from the reporter's crashes. Beginning with a crash in nsImageBoxListener::OnStopDecode (current bug 167915).
Please delete your current profile and create a new one. Perhaps that will solve the problem.
I already tried that but it did not help.
I also has some mysterious crashes, starting probably around 20020914 (not sure), mostly happening while mozilla window is inactive (behind other windows). Can't spot any pattern in it though. ==> NEW

> I also has some mysterious crashes, starting probably around 20020914. Yes, Windows crashes a lot since 20020914, but there are already bugs filed for those crashes: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/data/crash-data/Trunk-topcrashers.html
Re: Comment #2 Well, I looked at bug 167915 - and indeed, my start page is spiegel.de, so this might be the root of the problem. Funny thing is, though, that sometimes I have no problems and sometimes one crash will lead to a series of further crashes...
corrupted chrome registry? reporter, can you unstall Mozilla, delete all files in mozilla/chrome directory, reinstall, and see if you can still reproduce the problem?
Re: comment #8 I did that, but it did not help, had a couple of similar crashes afterwards. Unfortunately, I have no talkback ID of them as I had also deleted the components directory and then installed a new build (2002092308) without talkback. Will provide some, when crashing continues.
