Steps to reproduce:
- Set
browser.proton.enabled
to true - Set
browser.uidensity
to 1 - Restart Firefox
- Play audio in a tab
What happens:
There is no audio playback indication unless I hover on the tab strip.
Expected result:
Like release.

I see PLAYING
below the tab title in normal density. You are correct that this is not an icon, however.

In Compact UI you should see the audio icon instead of the favicon, though not seeing the favicon may make it harder to find the tab you are looking for.

Unfortunately this is indeed an issue - I have filed it as bug 1701443 (but that issue also affects normal mode).
