If you at any time during a run-time session (ie, starting up Chimera) select
from the Location bar history (the drop-down out of the location bar that
completes what you've already typed) then it is impossible to go to a URL that
is a substring of anything in the history that is not in the history.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Clear your history
2.Go to http://www.cnn.com/US (by typing it in)
3.Go to http://www.msnbc.com
4.Type in http://www.cnn
5.Select http://www.cnn.com/US from the history list
6.Go to http://www.msnbc.com
7.Type in http://www.cnn.com and hit enter.
Actual Results:
You will be taken to http://www.cnn.com/US even though you only typed in
http://www.cnn.com and hit enter with focus in the location field.
Expected Results:
It should have gone to http://www.cnn.com
I also filed a bug about the location history only saving the first site you
visit in a browser session (and only if you go to more than one page in a
session). Note that the location history is completely preserved within a
single session, just not across a quit.
WorksForMe using Chimera/2002092104 on 10.1.5. ahp+mozilla@hilander.com, can you
still reproduce this problem using a more current build?

I tried downloading a nightly build just now, and it won't even run under
10.2.1. It starts and then stops immediately (the dock icon appears and then
immediately disappears).

I can still reproduce this using your build (2002092104). I am running Jaguar
(10.2.1) and you are running 10.1.5 which might account for the difference.

I do not believe this bug is 100% fixed. If I go to a page by selecting it in
the location field history dropdown and begin to type in another location that
is a substring of the site I just navigated to the history dropdown comes up
with the current page already selected. If I delete 1 character the box goes
away, then if I re-type the same character the dropdown re-appears with nothing
selected.
Example:
Navigate to http://www.cnn.com/US
Open a new browser.
Type in http://www.cnn, then select http://www.cnn.com/US from the list
Type in http://www.cnn, you will see that http://www.cnn.com/US is already
selected, and you can't get the grey bar out of the dropdown without deleting a
character.

in my build, your last steps work correctly. are you running a nightly from
9/26? if it's before that, you would be correct as the first build with the fix
was 9/26.

Ah OK. It looks like the 9/26 Chimera build isn't up yet (I'm running 09/25
still). Will check when the 9/26 build comes out.
