Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:87.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/87.0
Steps to reproduce:
Right-click Firefox icon
Click on New Private Window
Actual results:
New Private window is started.
Cursor is flashing in address bar.
Any keyboard input is ignored.
Expected results:
I'd expect to be able to type an address or search command in the address bar.
If you start firefox without private mode, ie: normally, focus is in the address bar and you can type in an address. Similarly if you press control-shift-P from an existing firefox window, the same occurs.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Private Browsing' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hey Brenda,
I tested this issue on the latest versions of Firefox Nightly 89.0a1 (2021-04-14), beta 88.0 and release 87.0 but can't reproduce it since the keyboard input works just fine.
Can you try to unpin it and pin it back or even reinstall Firefox and tell us if this fixed it?

The odd thing is, it happens on both my desktop and my notebook.
I tried unpinning it and repinning it and didn't even have the option for "New Private Window", I then searched and found a fix for that in about:config and it still happened.
I then uninstalled it and reinstalled it but it didn't make any difference there either. It asked about blowing away my settings, but I declined at the time. I'll only try that if you, really think it'll make a difference.

Brenda, no need to blow away settings.
Can you test the issue while in Safe Mode? You can find helpful info here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode .
Also a fresh new profile could help. You can find more about creating a new profile here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile .
If possible, you can test this issue on the nightly build as well. Download the build from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/all/ .
Also, do you have an Antivirus application running on your computer?
