I wanted to mention Juan Sián in a comment, but it's literally impossible:
- There are too many
Juan*, so it doesn't show up in the first 5 matches. - The search doesn't look in the username, only at the beginning, so I can't search for
Sián, for example.
Possible solutions:
- When I'm in a comment, clicking the username adds a mention. That seems complex, since we have at least two comment fields (term, translation), and it would be awkward when I'm in the sidebar.
- Search within the username, not just the beginning. It should be possible to find most users like that.

I'd go with the 2nd option - the 1st one doesn't sound like a common UX pattern.
