User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:87.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/87.0
Steps to reproduce:
Visit https://www.faz.net/ (I'm sure there are many more examples as well) with recent Firefox build (87).
At 100% zoom, all the images look correct.
Scale to any zoom factor (e. g. 150%) and observe distorted images in the article previews at the front page.
My system:
Fedora Linux 34 Workstation (Beta)
GNOME 40 beta
GTK 4.2.0
Firefox 87.0 (64-Bit) from the repos
Affects both Wayland and X11 sessions.
I should mention that I can't observe this behavior on Kubuntu 20.04 (Plasma 5.18.5, X11, Firefox 87.0). Maybe this has something to do with GTK?
Actual results:
The images at the top of the article previews don't scale correctly. They are stretched. It seems the width increases/decreases, but not the height.
However, usually images scale correctly in Firefox. When I open the affected images on their own in a new tab, they scale correctly.
Expected results:
The said images should scale in both width and height.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hmm, I can't repro this (also on Fedora 34, but on Nightly). Does it work with a build from https://nightly.mozilla.org? Thanks.

Hello Emilio,
indeed it works fine on 89.0a1 (2021-04-02) (64-Bit) and even 88.0b6 (64-Bit). Thank you!
So let's just hope there won't be any regressions before the next stable version…
I guess we can close this issue for now.

There may also be a difference between the Fedora build and the Mozilla build, fwiw (in which case this should be reported to https://bugzilla.redhat.com, probably). Does a stable build from Mozilla work for you (i.e., one from here?

Hello Emilio,
this is very strange… all the builds directly from Mozilla (stable/beta/nightly) work, even the current 87.0.
It seems to be a Fedora-specific issue?
I will report the bug to the Red Hat Bugzilla.
