Details
If I log in for a second time to my IMAP server, the conenction will be read
only. However, mozilla _looks_ like it is letting me delete messages. It also
doesn't tell me it is in read only mode. This is important since it won't find
new messages while in RO mode, so I should find the other logged in client and
remedy the situation....

Confirming. We also shouldn't run filters or look like we're marking messages as
read if the folder is read-only.
It's easy to reproduce the problem with UW-IMAP, shell access and pine. Login,
launch pine and suspend it pressing Ctrl-Z when the Inbox is opened. Now login
using Mozilla. Pine can't relinquish write access to the folder so Mozilla is
provided read-only access.
Scott, do you have time to work on this? I can also take a look if needed.
