Seamonkey had memory leaks, that is an issue for months, but this breaks everything. when surfing to https://ourworldindata.org/explorers/coronavirus-data-explorer to get the latest spreadsheet with all the world in coronadata, and clicking on the link covid-19 dataset (left, top) Seamonkey memory usage explodes and Seamonkey and my computer freezes. Only way to leave this is a hard reset with the on/off button.
Firefox and Opera are handling the link alright and present the Github-directory with the required spreadsheet.
Please fix this!

Seems cannot reproduce with the current 2.53.8 .

Is it still reproducible for you?

BTW, the (left, top) link is to github page. To fully work with github with SM, the github-wc-polyfill plugin is needed.

NOT reproducible with installation of unofficial (by wg9s) De SeaMonkey 2.53.9 beta 1 Mozilla/5.0 (NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0 Build 20210707210003 (Newly created User Profile, Default Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit

No response, so WFM for now.

@Reporter: Please feel free to reopen this Bug if if the problem reappears with a current SeaMonkey version and a current OS.

THe problem still shows in Seamonkey 2.53.8. Seamonkey hangs when clicking on the topleft covid-19 dataset, A Github page used to appear, but the memory usage now increases continuously until only a hard reset (dangerous for the hard drive) can be applied.

Still not seeing "continuously increasing memory usage" (CentOS-7 Linux).

What is your Linux distro and version?

Whether you use some addons (including github polyfill addon) and whether the issue reproducible for you whe start in safe mode?

It could help also if you can provide screen snapshots -- just before the click in top-left, just after, and how/where you see that the memory usage is growing. (Because sometimes small insignificant nuances can help a lot).

current Linux version is Lubuntu 20.04
in safe mode the leakage and freezing does not appear, checking which add-on causes the leakage...

it was the add-on "dark background and light text"
reopening in full mode, it appears the leakage and freezing have disappeared, also with other problematic pages.
solved, until further notice!
