Hi helmut.carter,

Is this reproducible with addons disabled or a clean Firefox profile?
Could you also check if you have webrender enabled?

To check that just navigate to about:support and check the graphics section (Compositing- should be webrender).
If so, then please disable it by navigating to about:config, search for the following preference - "gfx.webrender.force-disabled" and set it to "true".
After this please restart the browser and check whether the issue is still reproducible or not.
If you could also provide your info from about:support page (Copy text to clipboard) and attach it here, that would be of great help.

Thanks,
Let me know how it goes!

Can you please post your about support text? Thanks!

Disabling webrender appears to fix it. Why does this happen?

Likely a driver bug. Your graphics driver is from late 2017. Would you be able to update it to a more recent version and test again?

Sure. Can you tell me how?

Thanks. On Window 10 you can update your graphics driver from the Device Manager interface (look for display adapters in the list of peripherals).
