The update of Firefox that rolled out on 4/22/21, 88.0 (64-bit), prevents me from opening NCBI websites like https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/. These are safe, US government websites that work with other browsers.

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0

Steps to reproduce:

I tried to go to the NCBI website: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/.

Actual results:

I got Firefox error page saying: Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

Expected results:

I should have gotten to the NCBI homepage. This site works fine on other browsers so it is a new Firefox problem.

This seems to be a temporary issue with the connection. Could you please check again now?

Problem is still there as of 3:24 pm EDT.

It seems that CloudFlare resolver fails to resolve the domain. Could you please open about:config, give me the value of network.trr.mode and change it to 5?

Flags: needinfo?(jlissemore)

The value for network.trr.mode is 0. I changed it to 5 and now the NCBI websites work.

The domain now resolves correctly on CloudFlare resolver.
