Previous versions of Thunderbird recognised this address.

I clicked the address shown in the description and sent an email to the address using Thunderbird 78.10 The send using gmails mail server was without issue. A check of the gmail web site indicates they sent the email. Now I await a response.
I asked the owner of the address to contact the reporter if they were known to them and to reply to me, but I have no doubt that the email as supplied does not produce any error on sending.
I'll also send a test email via BT server. Sending occurred without issue.
Actual results:
Informed that ericthomson@internode.on.net was not a valid email address.
Could you try again - Create email and before sending create an image showing the information inserted in headers - post image.
Send message and then post an image of that error message.
To post image make sure it in eg: jpeg format and use the 'attach new file' button which is located above your first comment.
I'd like to confirm that the email address you entered was the same as the one you posted in this bug report.

Thanks Matt and Anje for checking this out! Excellent support.
Hello David, from your description so far, this is not a bug in Thunderbird. On TB 78.10.0 (32-bit) on Win10, I've tried using Eric's address with Send later (Ctrl+Shift+Send) and it was pushed to TB's outbox folder correctly without error. TB does not do any further address checks after that.
Maybe you misspelled the address without noticing (like extra spaces), or maybe that exact address does not exist on the receiving server (in case of misspelling). E.g. if you accidentally add a space anywhere before the @ character, Thunderbird will accept that, it's almost invisible, message will send, but fail to deliver, because internally it becomes To: "ericthomson "@internode.on.net (note the quotes and the space before @).
- As Anje said, you can attach a screenshot of your recipient address how it looks before sending.
- Also, you should attach a screenshot of the error message which you are getting. We need to know if it's Thunderbird emitting an error alert right after you have pressed 'Send', or if you got a reply email message from receiving server. In the future, pls quote any error messages exactly and full length.
- Do you still have a copy of the failing message in your sent folder? Select it and press Ctrl+U to look at the source. Examine Eric's address thoroughly - is it 100% spelled correctly? You can also remove private data and attach here as a text file.

Thank you all for your help. It would appear that the the account is indeed no longer active. A SURPRISE, but it is apparent that there is no problem at my end, so the imagined problem can be put to rest. Thanks again.

Thanks David for reporting back. We're all learning!
So next time, we'll encourage reporters to verify if the recipient's account is still existing in case of delivery problems... ;-) (apart from requesting the exact error message as I did in my first comment here, comment 4).
